The Royal Mews of Cordoba

Royal Mews

In 1570, "Felipe II" gave free rein to his passion for horses and his desire to create a thoroughbred Spanish horse. For this purpose, he ordered the construction of "Las Caballerizas Reales" (the Royal Mews) at the old lands of the "Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos" (the Palace of the Christian Kings).

At these mews, the Spanish horse (from Arab ancestors), also called "andaluz" horse, was bred. This horse is very appreciated for riding.
