Roman Temple of Cordoba

Next to the Town Hall of Cordoba, we find the only Roman temple we have archaeological evidences of. Dedicated to the imperial cult, astounds for its large dimensions. This building was part of the provincial forum as well as a circus.

Originally, this temple was elevated by a podium and at the entrance it had six Corinthian style columns and in front of the entrance, the altar or ark raised. The reconstruction of this temple, done by the architect "Félix Hernández", has given Cordoba another sample of the magnificence of this large city of the Roman period. Some of the original pieces of this temple, are shown at the "Archaeological Museum" as well as at unusual and beautiful corners of the city, like the grooved column at the "Doblas" square.
